Ferrochrome Preheater
Tenova Pyromet has developed an innovative solution that utilizes the chemical energy contained in the furnace off-gas to pre-heat the feed material prior to feeding the chrome ore and reductants to the furnace. This technology reduces the electrical energy consumption and improves furnace stability
Overview
Tenova Pyromet is a leading company in the design and supply of high technology integrated melting and smelting plants for the production of ferroalloys, base metals and Pig Iron, with a successful history going back more than 100 years.
The CO rich cleaned furnace off gas is combusted in a custom designed burner-combustion chamber unit that converts the chemical energy to thermal energy. The combusted gas is diluted (using the pre-heater’s recycle gas system) to approx. 600degC.
The gas is fed into the pre-heater vessels and by means of a counter flow heat exchange process, the furnace feed is pre-heated to 600degC.
The hot feed is discharged into the furnace using multiple feed chutes.
